Light is a basic necessity for life and spending life without light is unimaginable in today’s time but still this has been the way of life for many people in several villages of India. People’s plight becomes even more worse when villages are located in harsh and remote areas of India.
In 2015, PM Narendra Modi took the pledge of lighting up these remotest villages under the leadership of Minister for Power Piyush Goyal.
See what magic Piyush Goyal has done for the people of Kargil living at an altitude of 14,000 feet.
It took more than 70 years since Independence for the people in the upper reaches of Kargil to see an electric bulb glowing.
Thanks to solar energy, Fooker Bodh Kharbu and Stakchey Brok villages situated at an altitude of 14,000 feet, have been electrified for the first time since our country got Independence in 1947.
These areas had been neglected till now and there were no electric poles to transport power in these villages.
